GLORIA JEAN LEOPOLD

GLORIA JEAN LEOPOLD
On Sept. 8, 1956, she became the loving wife of Victor Leopold. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four sons who were the pride and joy of her life. Gloria was a traditional woman whose greatest joy was her family. She was a gifted cook, baker and a die-hard fan of the Columbus Cardinals. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she even found herself, however reluctantly, rooting for the Bellville Brahmas for a few years. You could always find her in the stands, cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at their games. Everyone who knew her well could tell you about her chicken fried steak, fried chicken and pies.
Gloria worked at a local grocery store before finding her true calling as a paraprofessional in a life skills classroom at Columbus ISD, where she dedicated herself until she retired. Her love for her family and her passion for her work were a demonstration of her giving nature.
In her later years, Gloria found simple joys in life. She loved watching the birds from her living room window and was a devoted viewer of the Game Show Network. One of her most treasured possessions was a digital photo frame, a gift that kept her connected to her growing family. She would spend hours watching the photos and loved to talk about all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis Presley, her all-time favorite.
Gloria’s life was a testament to the power of family and the importance of a loving heart. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her strength, and her dedication to those she held dear. The family would like to thank Rachel Toliver and Darla Torres for their devoted care.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jeannetta Schmidt Ahlgrim and Elo Ahlgrim; her brother, Ronnie Ahlgrim and his wife Pat; and her grandchildren, Grace and Elizabeth.
