ELIZABETH ANN TASLER

Elizabeth Ann Tasler, age 74, formerly of Columbus passed away peacefully in her home in Houston in the early hours of Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025. The family moved to Columbus in December 1954, and Columbus was her home until December 2020 when she moved to the Houston/ Clear Lake City area to live with her sister.

Elizabeth was a sensitive, quiet and prayerful sister who enjoyed singing especially along with the Righteous Brother and the Statler Brothers, two of her favorite groups. She prayed regularly for her siblings and rarely missed saying grace before every meal. Her physical presence will be missed by her family. She enjoyed working word-find puzzles, reading the daily newspaper and James Patterson novels, watching television, especially the Fox News channel and NFL football games. Every week she would pick her winning teams and share the information with her brother, Buddy, who kept track of her winning percentages. Elizabeth especially had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially her black Lab, Heidi, and cats, Nosey and Little One.

Elizabeth graduated from Bishop Forest High School (1969), Incarnate Word College (B.A.,1973) and Sam Houston State University (M Ed. 1983). Her career was spent as a kindergarten/primary level classroom teacher and librarian.

Upon retiring after 30 years as an educator, she returned to Columbus and cared for her dad until his passing in 2013. She lived alone for several years and then moved to Houston to live with her sister.

Elizabeth was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and belonged to the Catholic Daughters and Altar Society. She was also a member of the Colorado County Retired Teachers’ Assoc. In Houston, she was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church.

Elizabeth is survived by her sister, Bernadette Hogue and her two brothers, Frank (Buddy) Tasler of Henderson, NV and Norbert (Sandy) Tasler of Chino Valley, AZ. and many cousins on the Knippa and Tasler sides of the family. Other family members include Aaron, Holly and Natalie Troyer of Houston; Cheryl Seabranch and daughters of Montgomery, TX; Connie and Tom Mitchell and their families of Ft. Worth; Sandy, Kyle and Gabriela Hogue of North Carolina.

Services for Elizabeth will be held Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Columbus with visitation from 9-10 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. and graveside services at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus.

El izabeth’s body is healed, and she no longer must endure any of the treatments or challenges that went along with her 65 years of Type I Juvenile Diabetes. May she rest in eternal peace with our Heavenly Father.
