MARILYN MARIE (SALAS) URBAN
She was born on Feb. 24, 1935, to Mary (Spacek) and Anton Salas in Matagorda County.
Marilyn first attended Pecan School in Holman, which was taught by nuns. She graduated from La Grange High School in 1953 and from Durham’s Business College of Houston in 1954.
Marilyn was first employed at Harris Upham and Company in Houston.
On Dec. 28, 1954, Marilyn was united in marriage to Steve Urban in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Holman. After their marriage, she traveled with her husband who was in the Air Force and she worked with the Civil Service at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
Upon Steve’s discharge from the service and return to Fayette County, Marilyn was employed with Dr. August Watzlavick Clinic in Schulenburg and thereafter for the First National Bank in Schulenburg.
After moving to Colorado County, Mari lyn was employed by County Judge Lester Cranek for several years and then she was employed at Colorado County Savings and Loan Association for several

years. Thereafter she later worked for Justice of the Peace Dodie Dungen until her retirement.
Marilyn was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and St. Anthony Altar Society. She also served several years as a Lector and Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister and delivered communion to the homebound.
A highlight of her life was a trip to Medjugorje in 1988.
Marilyn is survived by her children Michelle Kulhanek (Gary), Michael Urban (Tibbie) and Russell Urban, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and sisters Loraine Luce and Joyce Haley.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steve, and grandson Kolby.
Services were held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, and burial was in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in Holman.
