ROSEMARY SCHOELLMANN WIED

Rosemary Schoellmann Wied of Garwood passed away Feb. 5, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Garwood to Joseph F. and Mary Boenisch Schoellmann. She attended Garwood School, graduating in 1951 as Salutatorian. She married Edward Wied in 1952 at St. Mary Catholic Church, and they were married 55 years before his death. She worked with her mother at City Cafe and assisted with answering the fire phone for the Garwood Volunteer Fire Dept.

Rosemary was a founding member of Catholic Daughters Court 1595 at the age 18. She was also a founding member of Christian Mothers Society of Nada. In 1972, she joined a group of seven ladies from the community and started a weekly card game of Tripoli. These women developed a lifelong friendship through 40 years of that game. She enjoyed playing Dominoes with family and friends. She loved cooking and baking favorite dishes for each of her children and grandchildren at family gatherings and holidays.

She is survived by her sons Chris Wied of Cat Springs and Jeff Wied and wife Annette of El Campo; grandchildren Blake (Misty) Wied, Stacie Klein, and Travis (Haley) Wied; great grandchildren Grace Wied, Luke Wied, Hannah Klein, Memphis Wied, and Townes Wied; sister Henrietta (Kenny) Baumgarten; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter-inlaw Kathy Wied.

Visitation will begin 9 am Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a CDA Rosary being recited at 9:30 am. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10 am with Rev. Peter Yeboah-Amnfo. Committal rites will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers Blake Wied, Larry Pavlu, Brad Baumgarten, Doug Baumgarten, Travis Wied, and Luke Wied.
