DAVID BERNARD MELDAHL

It is with deep sorrow yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of David Bernard Meldahl, who left this world peacefully on May 21, 2026 with loved ones by his side in Eagle Lake, Texas. Born on Feb. 12, 1947, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Dave’s journey through life was marked by selfless service to others and an unlimited love for his family.
Dave was the beloved son of Ted and Helen Meldahl, whose values of integrity and kindness he carried forward throughout his life. He is now reunited with them, his sister Janet Harness, and his grandson, Zakk Brimage, in eternal peace.
A proud veteran, Dave served his country as a decorated officer in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1976. During his service, he embodied the virtues of honor and courage, traits he carried into all aspects of his life. His naval career was a testament to an unwavering commitment to his country. After his honorable discharge, Dave embarked on a long and successful career as a computer software engineer.
On Dec. 27, 1980, in Houston, Dave married the love of his life, Jane Lu Alley. Together, they embarked on an extraordinary journey of over 45 years, nurturing their family with love, laughter, and support. Their enduring partnership exempl i f ied unconditional commitment and devotion to one another. Dave’s legacy lives on through his loving wife, Jane, and their chi ldren: Eric Meldahl, Brian Meldahl, Mike Paschall and wife Stacey, and Alysen Weller and husband Matt. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanne Meldahl, and brother-inlaw, Walter Harness.
Dave was so very proud of his grandchildren, who referred to him as their Grumpy: Taylor Long and husband Cole, Brett Brimage and wife Demi, Aryn Soliday and husband Justin, Brock Bailey and wife Abbie, Coy Ward and Peyton, Colin Paschall, and Carson Meldahl. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he found immense joy in their accomplishments and happiness. Dave was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Abbott Long, Waylon Long, Zoey Long, Bear Brimage, Brody Bailey, Aria Bailey, and CJ Ward, who brought a sparkle to his eyes and warmth to his heart.
As we gather to celebrate Dave’s life, we remember the truly great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was a blessing to all who knew him and who undoubtedly leaves behind a legacy of love, reminding us all of the importance of fami ly, friends and the power of a kind heart.
A private fami ly service will be held to honor Dave’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a veterans’ charity of your choice in memory of Dave’s service to his country.
Rest in peace, Dave. Your life was a testament to love, family, and service, and you will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing you.
