Madelyn was born to Frank Braden and Martha (Schertz) Braden on June 8, 1946, in Columbus. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her brothers, Donald Braden (Carol) and Kenneth Braden ( Jennifer); nieces, Diana Maichetti (Chris), Phyllis Wavra (Merle), Lauren Braden; nephew, Mike Braden (Amanda); and several great nieces and nephews, several greatgreat nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.
Prior to her death, Madelyn was the oldest living great-granddaughter of Andreas Braden, a Civil War soldier who is buried at Mentz.
While attending Columbus High School (Class of 1964), she played clarinet in the band, was a baton twirler, had the honor of being one of the first Magnolia Belles, and also served as president of the FHA.
Shortly after completing high school, she went to Airline Hostess School in Dallas and after that graduation went to work for Braniff Airlines which ceased operations in May of 1982.
She really enjoyed the opportunity to fly all over the world and be part of the close knit Braniff family which is still connected today.
For many years she was a civil intake clerk for Harris County Family Courts until her retirement in 2008.
After living most of her life in Houston, she returned back to Columbus in her final years.
A graveside prayer service will be held on Thursday, July 16 at 2 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Columbus with Deacon John Glueck officiating.
