He was born on Feb. 5, 1939, to George Henry Michaelsen and Helena Gretchen (Schaer) Michaelsen in El Campo.

Billy owned his own lawn maintenance service for many years.

He enjoyed gardening, tending to his roses, polka and waltz dancing and taking care of yards all over Columbus.

Billy is survived by his daughter Cheryl Mundy and husband Danny; sister Linda Vaclavik and husband Alex; grandchildren, Hayden Mundy and wife Lindsey, and Haley Mundy.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

A graveside service followed at 12 p.m. at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in El Campo. Pastor Wayne Clement officiated.
