SOMERVILLE – The Wildcats have gotten to a strong start this season with three straight victories to begin their campaign. They have already matched their total victory count from last season with seven more opportunities to improve their record from a year ago. After their most recent performance, the Wildcats have confidence that they will improve from their record last year significantly as they had one of their best offensive performances of the season. The Wildcats travelled to face off against the Yeguas and had a complete game of dominance as they took their third win of the season by a 6514 margin.

Weimar made quick work of the Yeguas by taking a big advantage as early as the first quarter. The Wildcats scored 24 points in the first while allowing just a single touchdown by their opponents to take a strong lead. Weimar responded with 23 more points in the second quarter while again allowing just one touchdown in response from Somerville. The Wildcats went into halftime with a 47-14 lead that never got closer. Weimar widened the gap with six points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth while shutting out the Yeguas in the second half.

Defensively, the Wildcats had an impressive game as they forced turnovers and placed significant pressure on the quarterback. They came away with multiple sacks after some free runs through the offensive line to the opposing QB. They also forced some difficult throws that resulted in takeaways for the defense. While the 14 points was the highest point total allowed by the defense this season, it was still a dominating effort for a defensive squad that has seemed to have much more cohesion this year.

The offense had an equally dominant against the Yeguas as they once again pounded the ground in a huge performance. They finished with their season- high yardage in both total yards and rushing yards. They picked up over 550 total yards with over 520 yards on the ground as they dominated at the point of attack on the offensive line.

Zach Norrell took the lead this week for the rushing attack as he finished with a team-leading 165 yards on the ground to go along with three rushing touchdowns. Wyatt Lacina added a touchdown of his own and was another century-mark runner with 102 yards on the night. Quarterback Huxton Kloesel nearly hit the century mark as he picked up 93 yards on the ground as well as a rushing TD. Dreylon McMillian and Kamryn Burley each added a rushing touchdown, finishing with 53 and 48 yards respectively.

Kloesel added some scoring production through the air as well as he tossed a 25-yard catch and run to Norrell for a TD.

With the victory, the Wildcats push their record to 3-0 before they play host to Snook for their first home game of the season. Their first home game will have a special element added as well with Weimar’s homecoming celebration happening the same night on Sept. 15.
