Historical Career Fair planned for San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site
The San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site, operated by the Texas Historical Commission, will host a fun day of history and learning activities on Saturday, Dec. 2. Staff and volunteer living historians will demonstrate the trades, crafts and jobs performed by residents of the historic town during its heyday between 1823 and 1836. While SAS is on Thanksgiving break, we would like to let everyone know how thankful we are to have so many wonderful folks supporting our school. In addition to our staff and student families, we are grateful for our substitute teachers, and our PTC officers and members, who volunteer all year to ensure events and fundraisers go as planned. We appreciate our school Advisory Council and Fr. James Dvorak for their ongoing guidance. SAN FELIPE – The origins of Texas find its roots in the rural areas around Colorado and Austin Counties that trace back to the Old 300 Settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin. Austin’s base of operations during Texas’ colonization was established in San Felipe, a smaller community south of Sealy.
