Garden Club to have program on heat-loving plants
Phoebe Lake, owner of a specialty plant nursery called New Leaf Nursery in Brenham, will present the program “Some Like It Hot” to members of Columbus Garden Club on Wednesday March 13. The nursery specializes in fine herbs, perennials and native plants that are sold in farmer’s markets. Janet Johnson, President of the garden club, says “the program will be about heat-loving plants for Central Texas and will be a power point presentation that will include handouts and allow time for attendees to ask questions.” 03/06/2024 12:00 AM

COLUMBUS – The Office of Emergency management will begin seeking feedback during the public opinion phase of the Hazard Mitigation Plan construction period. During the Thursday, Feb. 29 meeting of the Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club, member, Rev. Margarita Arroyo welcomed guest speaker, Bret Cappleman, owner of the new Apple Ace Lumber at 200 Glen Flora Road in Eagle Lake. Cappleman invited the Lions and the community to visit the store for their Grand Opening celebration on March 1 and March 2. The entire store has been enlarged and renewed and stocked with a boutique as well as a large variety of hardware, tools, lumber and services such as glass and key cutting.
