St. Anthony students explore Texas history
St. Anthony students explore Texas history
Members of the local chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas exhibited their Pioneer Life Trunk to Ms. Kelsey Bohuslav’s 4th grade class at Saint Anthony Catholic School. Kathleen Townzen and Donna Pustejovsky from the Dilue Rose Harris chapter presented various replica items from the mid-1800s. These ‘artifacts’ would be used in everyday life, such as maps and currency, household items and toys and games. As each item was presented, students were able to handle, experiment, and enjoy. The class was excited to participate and afterward enjoyed afternoon snacks. 01/17/2024 12:00 AM

Columbus Food Pantry expresses thanks for community effort
On Jan. 10, the Columbus Walmart notified the Columbus Food Pantry of a donation of 126 cases of frozen Cornish Game Hens. That equals 3,024 hens. The Food Pantry has a good deal of freezer space, but it is not able to handle 3,024 hens. Coordination efforts got underway immediately. Several volunteers, churches, and businesses came to the rescue of the hens. The hens are currently all over the City of Columbus, and safely waiting to be handed to families in need of The Columbus Food Pantry services. It was an impressive effort. 01/17/2024 12:00 AM
