Top 10 finishers highlight day for Columbus CXC
NAVASOTA – The Columbus cross- country team has had a strong run this season with several top performances while they steadily improve and prepare themselves for the district meet. Their most recent outing was reflective of the success they have been able to find this season as Columbus took several medal placements and had a triplet of runners finish in the top 10.

Whitehead carries rushing attack to big performance
HOUSTON – The Columbus Cardinals have established themselves as an offensive juggernaut early in the season as they have scored over 45 points in every game they have played so far. The rushing attack has been a big emphasis as lead running back Ty’Vone Whitehead uses his speed to impact the game and break away for huge gains. Whitehead had yet another huge performance in the Cards’ most recent game against North Forest as Columbus picked up their first shut out in a 48-0 victory over the Bulldogs.

CJHS Lady Cards take on Tidehaven
The Columbus Junior High Lady Cardinals played Tidehaven at home on Monday, Sept. 11. The seventh grade B-Team tied with Tidehaven after losing set one 17-25 and winning set two 25-21. The eighth grade B-Team won both sets, first with a 25-11 win and then by a 25-4 margin. The seventh grade A-Team team won two straight by 25-16 and 25-6. The eighth grade A-Team took down Tidehaven 25-16 in set one and then 25-22 in set two.

Lady Cards sweep early part of district schedule
The varsity volleyball team for Columbus has gotten the district portion of the season started with a dominant run throughout their first few matches. The no. 4 ranked team on the TGCA poll has yet to concede a single set so far in three matches, first winning in three-straight sets against rival Rice before sweep victories against Hallettsville on the road on Sept. 12 and Edna at home on Sept. 15.
