Community attends presentation by forensic reconstruct artist and sculptor
Community members from near and far came to the library on March 30 to attend a forensic anthropology presentation by Amanda Danning at Nesbitt Memorial Library. Danning discussed the bestselling book, “No Bone Overturned” by Jeff Benedict. The book is based on the true story of Dr. Doug Owsley, a forensic anthropologist at the Smithsonian, and one of his greatest accomplishments when he sued the U.S. Department of Justice to stop them from reburying a 9,000-year-old skeleton called the “Kennewick Man.” Danning talked about evaluating “Kennewick Man” and how she, with some assistance, developed a program that used grids to help with facial reconstruction. 04/05/2023 12:00 AM

Weimar Lions donate to Parents as Teachers
At their meeting on March 21, the Weimar Lions hosted two representatives from Parents as Teachers - Josue Rivas, development director, and Sonya Roberts, educator - for an update and to receive a donation. The Lions’ local Parents as Teachers affiliate serves the Weimar and Schulenburg areas. According to a release, PAT’s mission is to provide the information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life. The organization offers personal home visits, developmental screenings, group connections with other parents, and a resource network to other community services. Bank participates in Credit for Life program at RHS
On March 23, Industry State Bank participated in the Credit for Life program hosted by Columbus Christian Women’s Organization at Rice High School. This program allows high school seniors a trial run at the adult world, which they will experience after graduating in May. The students received a credit score and job salary and had to make various financial decisions, such as buying a car, finding housing, choosing a credit card, etc. ISB helped lend a hand in the Credit Counseling Center where the students were able to see if they had been successful in their decision-making process.
