EAGLE LAKE – The Community Center played host to the start of a new tradition as several city officials and workers gathered for the city’s State of the City Address on Nov. 9. The City of Columbus and Columbus Community Industrial Development Corporation (CCIDC) met the matching pledge challenge of an anonymous donor and approved $100,000 in funds for the “Save Our Opera House” capital campaign. The Deputy Santa Program will be a collaboration this year between the Sheriff’s Office and the Family & Youth Services. Applications for Deputy Santa can be picked up at the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office or at FAYS at 514 Washington St. All applications must be submitted at either location by 5 p.m. on Dec. 1. Applicants must be residents of Colorado County. Those wishing to donate gifts can also leave their donations at the listed locations as well as the Farm Bureau.
