Local AgriLife Extension Agent LaShae Horn invited the Colorado County Sewing Lab to assist her at St Michaels Catholic School in Weimar to show almost 100 students the value of sewing Friday, Feb.11. Participants sewed buttons on, experienced an old hand crank sewing machine and a newer digital machine. They also looked at a memory quilt and a hand-sewn quilt that was well over 60 years old. She is a junior this year, is a member of FFA, Student Council, National Honor Society, and Drama Club; and participates in Academic UIL and Art. Her favorite class and teacher is Theatre Arts with Mr. Jobe. Outside of school, McKinsey spends her free time working, painting, and hanging out with her friends and family. After high school, McKinsey plans on attending The University of Texas at Austin to pursue her college degree.
