Colorado County Fair Contestants Sought

COLUMBUS—Contestants are being sought for the Colorado County Fair Queen, King, and Junior Queen contests to be held at the Colorado County Fairgrounds Pavilion on Thursday, Sept. 5.

Girls between the ages of eleven and 14 as of Sept. 1, 2019, are eligible to enter the Junior Queen Contest. Requirements include an entry fee of $30, paid by parent or a sponsor (business or civic club), selling 25 Season Passes to the Fair; a recent headshot photo, and formal attire for the event.

Young men and women between the ages of 15 thru 18, as of Sept. 1, 2019, are eligible to enter the Fair Queen and King contest. Requirements include: Entry fee of $50, paid by a sponsor (parent, business, school or civic group) selling 50 Season Passes to the Fair; a recent headshot photo; and formal attire for the contest.

Additional requirements for all fair queen and king contestants include: Must be single, never married; live in/attend school in Colorado County, and be willing to represent the Fair Association at fair and area events throughout the year, including riding the Fair Float at area parades to represent Colorado County.

Contestants will be required to participate in private and public Interviews on the day of the competition day with out-of-county judges starting at 4:30 p.m., dressed in formal attire with the Queen’s/King’s contests following the Little Miss/Mr./Jr. Miss and Jr Queen contests.

There will be an informational-sign up meeting for contestants or their parent to sign up for the contest either July 16, or July 17 anytime between 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Office. At that time, all entry forms, head shots, and entry fees should be brought to fair queen contest officials.
