COLUMBUS--Students from Columbus Jr High School – Riverside Campus recently performed the one act play, “Once Upon a Playground” by Jake Frakes, which centers around a girl who encounters bullies on a playground. The community performance raised $150 in which was donated to The Kindness Campaign.

The Kindness Campaign is a non-profit organization based in Austin. The organization started in 2015 with five schools and now is providing curriculum to 82 elementary schools. The Kindness Campaign’s mission is to inspire societal change through the power of kindness. TKC was founded to give voice to a generation of young people who aspire to stop the harmful cycle of bullying.

The program is centered around the core message of “I AM ENOUGH” – it is the heart and soul of TKC. Knowing that one in four children enters the school system having experienced some form of trauma by the age of three, TKC engages youth starting in Prekindergarten to create positive patterns of social and emotional behavior. All TKC materials are free to school districts and are designed to connect experiences between teachers, students, and parents for a social-emotional immersion.
