COLUMBUS – Nesbitt Memorial Library will host a program on the historic Potter Rodeos Thursday, March 14, beginning at 6 p.m.

Henry and Pamela Potter, owners of Potter’s Western Store in Columbus, will present the program. Henry Potter’s father, C.H. Potter, established the rodeos.

The Potter Rodeos were established in the 1940s and continued in Columbus on the land that is now Beason’s Park for a number of years.

The rodeos featured many events, and some well-known rodeo cowboys were part of the festivities over the years. For a number of years, the rodeos also included a barbecue.

The public can learn more about the rodeos and view memorabilia and photos from the rodeos during the program.

The program will be conducted in the meeting room of the Nesbitt Memorial Library in Columbus. For more information, contact the library at 979-732-5514.
