Jessie Banks, who retires from her work at Garwood Elementary School at the conclusion of this school year, was feted by friends, family, members of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, colleagues from Rice Consolidated ISD, and Garwood Elementary School, as well as members of the public, former students, and current students of the district last Thursday in Garwood. Banks, a Garwood resident, retires after 43 years at Rice Consolidated ISD, including many years at Garwood Elementary School. Banks was working at the school when Rice CISD Superintendent Bill Hefner IV was in first grade. A reception hosted in the Garwood Elementary foyer with cake and punch was attended by more than 100 people.
