Marie Martin Hinton McMahan passed from this life on Sept. 22. She was born June 4, 1929 in Columbus, the fifth child born to W.B. and Bettie (Lawrence) Martin. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1946, and completed beauty school in Houston in 1947. She married Robert (Bob) Hinton in May 1950 and they had a daughter, Betty, and a son, Robert Hinton, Jr. She worked as a hairdresser for almost 30 years, then went back to school and became a travel agent for the next 23 years. She also attended clown school in 1997 and served in rest homes and children’s hospitals for 10 years, bringing smiles to the sick.

In 2000, Marie moved from Houston to Boise, Idaho to be closer to Robert, Kathy and two of her granddaughters. She had a lifelong love of God and served Him through several church affiliations, throughout her life.

Marie was predeceased by her parents, sisters Evelyn and Sybil and brother, W. B. (Bill).

She is survived by her sister Margaret, son Robert Hinton Jr., wife Kathy and granddaughters Jeanette and Stephanie Hinton; daughter Betty Vail and granddaughters Teri Vail and Lori Vail and great grandchildren Kellen, Seth and Piper.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home with Robert Hinton, Jr. officiating.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face masks and social distancing will be required at all times.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to First Baptist Church, 1700 Milam St., Columbus, TX 78934 or the church of your choice.
