Johnny B. Prihoda, age 71, passed away Jan. 23 in Weimar. He was born to William L. Sr. and Mary (Srubar) Prihoda May 18, 1948 in La Grange.. He married Joan Ermis Prihoda Aug. 17, 1974.

Johnny spent his life making other people better, through his actions, words and mere presence. Johnny grew up in Plum with his wonderful family. He graduated from La Grange High School, followed by serving his country in the US Navy. Johnny and Joan settled in Weimar after marriage, and developed deep roots as they raised their family. Johnny was a retired feed mill operator from M.G. in Weimar. He enjoyed spending time with an extensive list of family and friends. Johnny was an easy man to become friends with. There were numerous activities over the years that lead to the many friendships. The various Church and Community organizations, including Baptism Program presenter, St. Michael’s Parish Board and School Board, track meet coordinator, playing and coaching baseball from Little League to amateur league baseball, serving in the Navy, KJT, ACTS community and Knights of Columbus, just to name a few. Regardless of the many different endeavors he was associated with, he was always a teacher. Sometimes vocal and sometimes quiet, he was always passing a positive message to the people around him. He was truly a person that left his thumbprint on this earth, and now that his time on earth has passed, that will not change. The message and guidance he shared with others will be certainly passed forward.

His parents, William L. Sr. and Mary Prihoda, precede Johnny in death.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife Joan of Weimar; sons, Bradley John Prihoda and wife Kari of Conroe, Joshua Martin Prihoda and wife Melissa of Magnolia and Luke Allen Prihoda of Houston; grandchildren, Colin Prihoda, Sydney Prihoda, Daphne Prihoda and Tanner Prihoda; sister Dorothy Bacak and husband Leslie of El Campo; brothers, James Prihoda and wife Carolyn of High Hill, William Prihoda Jr. and wife Irene of Weimar and Raymond Prihoda and wife Sherry of Weimar; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Monday, Jan. 27 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar with Father Wayne Flagg officiating. There was a Parish Rosary Sunday, Jan. 26 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 26, and Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Stephen Prihoda, Patrick Prihoda, Matthew Prihoda, Mark Prihoda, Warren Prihoda and Carl Prihoda. Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Srubar, Coy Holman, Aaron Zbranek, Rex Kloesel, Daniel Vecera, Dallas Canada, Darry Meyer, Kenneth Berger, Ed Kusy, Deacon John McCourt, Ralph Schmidt, Andrew Kruppa, Leonard Zbranek, James Heger, Arnold Rodriguez, Brandon Beseds and All of God’s Children.
