Phil Willenborg, 86, of Columbus, passed away on June 26 in Columbus.

He was born on July 1, 1935 to Leo and Veronica (Mattoon) Willenborg in Longview. On May 2, 1959 he married Ann Van Demark.

Phil is survived his daughter Terry Rich and granddaughter Shelby Stephens, husband Charlie and twin great grandchildren CJ and Josie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and son, Michael Willenborg.

Phil was an engineer and entrepreneur who retired at an early age and enjoyed traveling. During his retirement he visited nearly every country there is, with Belize being his favorite. He was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. Growing up with a father who built houses, Phil not only built two houses for himself and family, but assisted in building many homes for the local Habitat for Humanity. Being a man of God, he attended St. Roch’s Catholic Church for more than 40 years and volunteered to serve on many occasions.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home, 1515 Montezuma St, Columbus, with Deacon John Glueck officiating.

A heartfelt thanks Dr. Amirail S. Popatia MD and his kind and compassionate staff for their support and care this past year.
