Wildcats basketball team claims win, becomes area champs

WEIMAR — The Weimar Wildcats Basketball team traveled to Sinton for an Area Playoff game on Thursday, February 21, for a 7 PM tip-off.
Weimar Wildcats would be facing off with the San Isidro Tigers. Wildcats had a little bit of struggle at the beginning of the game they were trailing 4 - 13, with a little over two minutes left in the first quarter, before they finally got the ball and the basket to connect in making a 16-14 lead to end the first quarter.In the second quarter D. Almeida and D. Ellison had the magic touch of the ball shooting three pointers every chance they could, this really worked in the Wildcats favor.Wildcats went into halftime with the lead 39 - 32 over the San Isidro Tigers.In the first half there was a total for 17 turnovers, D. Almeida being the point leader for the Wildcats.
After halftime the Wildcats and the Tigers had to play at their best achievement of excellency, as well as they had to literally give their everything they possibly could on the court to make their team come out with a win.With a final score of Weimar Wildcats 75 - San Isidro Tiger 69.
The Weimar Wildcats are District 2A Area Champs. With heart and dedication, the Wildcats have the potential strive and goal that they need to exceed themselves to possibly making and taking the road to a state title.
