I am proud to say that I am an active business owner and tax payer in the Colorado County community. I was encouraged and invited by the Venghause family to bring my business to Columbus, Texas. Until that time I had not considered to come to Columbus. Once my stipulations were met… here I am after 9 years I am still here. Even with all the recent illegal activities going on in Colorado County my mind still stands the same. I am here for the long haul. I know what it takes to get things done whether it is my business or local government issues. What is right is right and what is wrong is wrong.

Read moreI am only a property tax paying residence owner and business owner here in Columbus, Colorado County. What the heck is going on with all the crime that is travelling through our county? The criminals need to be held accountable! Not a slap on the wrist, but real hard core consequences. Jail time… felony convictions on their records, financial restitution to the families affected by their crimes, and community service hours (and a lot of them). Keep in mind that the damaging property cost the residents out-of-pocket money as well as the City and the County. Many insurance companies have deductibles. I know mine does. Great true story… ..a prominent lady in Houston got caught stealing items from a store in the Galleria. The Judge made her wear a sign and walk up and down the esplanade in front of the Galleria on Westheimer…..’My name is ____I got caught stealing merchandise in the Galleria.’ A little bit humiliating…ya think! Her husband was the judge in the case! Need I say more!

I had lunch there several years ago and it brought back some fond memories. The lunch I had was the same; fried gizzards from Hartz. They are really good! My lunch guest friend was the same person; Bobby Marburger!
Read moreTo say I was dismayed to read the comments made by Mr. Kubesch during the recent Commissioners Court meeting (Citizen, Aug. 25) would be an understatement. At the very least, Kubesch owes an apology to the people of Colorado County for his racially derogatory reference to “the China virus.” But more importantly, he deserves censure, in my opinion, for using his position as an elected official to propagate the demonstrably false notion that the 2020 election was somehow stolen. (I would, however, be interested in seeing any factual evidence that he could present to support this claim.)
