I have had a store on Milam Street across from the courthouse since 2012. For many of those years I have sold plants to help finance my Monarch Butterfly gardens. There has always been a note on the door saying that one can make payment for a plant through the door slot. I have always put great stock in the honor system and trusted the honesty of my neighbors in Columbus and have been rightly justified in that trust. On the morning of May 6, at approximately 9:30 a.m., upon arriving at my store, I realized that two flats totaling 12 plants were missing. I opened the door expecting to find the $240 for the plants lying on the floor as I so often do. But I was greeted with nothing on the floor. It was hard to accept the fact that someone had actually stolen the plants.

Greg Abbott designated five emergency items, which are matters the Legislature can vote on within the first 60 days of the session that began Jan. 12. One of those items is termed as “Election Integrity”.
