A need is noticed most when there is a distinct lack of or difficulty acquiring whatever it is that is needed. It can be something as simple as having no food in the house when hunger strikes or as big-picture as a community with a lack of support during a natural disaster or emergency. Needs come in all forms. The one similarity between all human-needs is that people can innately figure out what they lack just by not having access to it, and that people will also take the next steps toward rectifying it. Whether it’s ordering takeout or building seawalls to protect from storm damage, one person or many people had to use their minds and resources to address whatever they were lacking. The same happens here in Colorado County as people make decisions every day that benefit the community as a whole. David Meade and his wife Anna are two people who recognized a need out in this area, and have brought their livelihood to pick things up where they are needed. With the grand opening of their Columbus location for the family-owned company, Katy Hydraulics, the Meade’s are hoping their company that has been within the family for generations can provide the field workers and farmers of the county everything they need for their hydraulics and machine maintenance supplies.
