The eighth-grade B-team won both games 25-15 and 25-11. The Ladycats had some fantastic serving by Karina Martinez and Angelic Jenkins. The eighth-grade A-team won in two games, 25-10 and 25-8. MJ Griffin had 12 serves, Kailea Burley had eight serves and Ty’Rianna Rhodes had six serves. Zariah Sims had three big hits and Victoria Sherwood played well on the net.

The Ladycats went to battle with the Flatonia Bulldogs on Tuesday, Sept. 19, then came back for more against the Louise Hornets on Saturday, Sept. 23, to open district play. The Ladycats knew these were big games and they did not miss a beat when it came to handling business.

Read moreALTAIR — The Rice Lady Raiders volleyball team lost two district games last week to Yoakum and Tidehaven to give them a 1-4 record in district play this season. The loss knocked the Lady Raiders down from 5th to 7th place in the standings, but they have not lost sight of their goal this season of improving from last season. With nine games left on their schedule, the Lady Raiders will continue to work every day towards their goal of improvement.

Sage Thompson and Ally Tribe celebrated their athletic accomplishments they achieved while wearing a Lady Cardinal uniform. Thompson eclipsed the 4,000-assist mark while Tribe reached 2,200 kills in their career and what better way to celebrate than back-to-back district wins.
