AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Commissioner John Hellerstedt, MD, today urged Texans to continue taking preventative measures against Coronavirus (CO- VID-19) to contain the spread of the disease. The Governor and Commissioner urged Texans to heed the direction of health providers and public health entities, and asked that Texans take common sense, everyday action to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.
Read moreAUSTIN – Last week, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) began issuing the newly designed Texas driver licenses (DL), identification (ID) cards and license to carry (LTC) cards to all Texans. Most notably, all of the cards will feature a new look with an updated design and enhanced security features. The DL/ID cards will also feature visible and discrete identifiers on the front. It’s important to note that previously issued DLs are still valid until the expiration date listed on the card.

Read moreI was surprised to see the front page of last week’s Citizen, contained 4 parts of the Socialist platform as enumerated in the ballot propositions of the Democrat Party. This may be a first in the 25 years I’ve subscribed. Usually, as I recall, the sample ballots are re-printed somewhere else in the paper, like on page 7 where the Republican propositions were printed this time. Oh well, times change and maybe the Citizen will lead the way in turning our county blue...politically. In a way, I’m sorta glad it happened. It might cause some of us to reflect on what our nation stands to lose.
