Legislation is one of the most important instruments of government in organizing society and protecting citizens. It determines amongst others the rights and responsibilities of individuals and authorities to whom the legislation applies. Election laws regulate who votes, when and how they vote, for whom they can vote, how campaigns are conducted, and how votes are recorded, counted, and allocated. Gov. Greg Abbott designated five emergency items, which are matters the Legislature can vote on within the first 60 days of the session that began Jan. 12. One of those items is termed as “Election Integrity”.
