On Sunday, March 10th, Rice High School students Cess Losoya and Shaelyn Schendel sold their artwork at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo school art auction.

Their artwork was among the 72 winning pieces chosen for auction out of all other entries in the rodeo art contest.

Schendel’s colored pencil piece, “The Office”, which won Gold Medal at the RHS district show, was purchased by a group of buyers for $13,000 and Losoya’s colored pencil piece, “Bathing in the Sunlight”, which was also a Gold Medal winner, sold to a buyer group for $20,000.

The talented artists will receive a portion of those earnings, while the remaining amounts will go back into the HLSR for scholarship and fundraising purposes.

Along with winning two spots in the auction, Rice High School received a Super Show Award for their outstanding participation in the school art show.
