The Eagle Lake Food Pantry, located at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Lake, will be open to dispense food to all qualified households in the Rice CISD during the month of April on Mondays.
Dates in April are Apr. 6, 13, and 20 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. In addition, the mobile food drive at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Lake will be open Apr. 13 from 10 a.m. to noon for all qualified households in Colorado County. Due to the coronavirus concerns, additional protocols will include the following:
1. The clothing store will be closed until further notice, and no donated clothing will be taken at this time.
2. In order to minimize contact, drive through procedure will be utilized. Please have your card with you. All clients are asked to open car doors and trunks , groceries will be placed inside the car. There will be no need for anyone to get out of their car when picking up food.
3. New recipients, please have proof of residence when you come. Pantry workers will bring the paperwork to you in your car.
These safeguards are necessary to ensure clients continue to receive food and minimize the risk of exposure for both yourself and the volunteers who will be assisting. The Eagle Lake Food Pantry is also requesting volunteer help. If you would like to assist and volunteer, please come to the Eagle Lake First Baptist Church on Mondays; Apr. 6, 13, or 20 at 9 a.m. On April 13, the Eagle Lake United Methodist Church will also need volunteers.
If you want to donate food, please bring your donated items to the Eagle Lake First Baptist Church office, located at 527 N.Lake Avenue. Items currently needed: spaghetti, mac and cheese, and soup. The pantry will also accept monetary donations. Please give any monetary donations to local ministers at the United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, Living Hope Church, Lissie Methodist Church, or Christ Episcopal Church.
The pantry’s goal is to continue to provide food for those families in need.
