Wildcats go 1-2 in Nixon-Smiley tourney

The Weimar Wildcats traveled to Nixon Friday, Dec. 27 and Saturday, Dec. 28 to play in the Nixon-Smiley tournament.

The Weimar Wildcat basketball team this year consists of two seniors, two juniors, three sophomores and one freshman.

Stats and scores from the tournament were as follows:

MARION 59, WEIMAR 51

No. 0 Joey Ramirez – 36 points, 2 assists. No. 1 Jose Ramirez – 8 points, 3 assists.

No. 2 Dylerick Ellison – 3 points, 2 steals. No. 10 Felix Sanchez – 2 points.

No. 12 Reed Purdy – 1 assist, 1 steal. No. 35 Cameron Lytle – 2 points.

NAVARRO 40, WEIMAR 32

No. 0 Joey Ramirez – 1 assist, 3 steals. No. 1 Jose Ramirez – 9 points, 3 steals.

No. 2 Dylerick Ellison – 3 points, 2 assists, 5 steals. No. 3 Kededran Wilson – 11 points, 4 assists, 2 steals. No. 10 Felix Sanchez – 6 points, 1 assist, 1 steal. No. 12 Reed Purdy – 3 points, 1 assist.

NATALIA 25, WEIMAR 65

No. 0 Joey Ramirez – 16 points, 2 assists, 3 steals. No. 1 Jose Ramirez – 11 points, 5 assists. No. 2 Dylerick Ellison – 12 points, 2 assists, 2 steals. No. 3 Kededran Wilson – 2 points, 5 assists, 6 steals. No. 5 Brady Henke – 4 points, 1 assist, 2 steals. No. 10 Felix Sanchez – 7 points, 3 assists, 3 steals. No. 12 Reed Purdy – 8 points, 2 assists, 2 steals. No. 35 Cameron Lytle – 5 points, 2 steals.

It was the battle of the Wildcats when Weimar took on the Waelder Wildcats Jan. 3. Weimar lost 77-52. Leading Weimar in scoring was sophomore No.0 Joey Ramirez with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Sophomore No.1 Jose Ramirez also added 13 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist, senior No. 2 Dylerick Ellison recorded 6 points, 3 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists.

The Weimar Wildcats will be back in action Tuesday, Jan.7 at 5 p.m. in a non-conference match-up against Burton.

The Wildcats face La Grange at home Friday, Jan. 10.

District play will begin Jan. 17.
