Ernestine Briscoe Brom, 87, went home to be with her Lord Oct. 7. Ernestine was born to Otto and Hilda Klimple of Columbus on July 22, 1934. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Hilda Klimple; sisters Mary Ella Janosek and Frances Stansbury-Edwards; husband Edward ’Bud’ Briscoe, and second husband Elvin ‘Johnny’ Brom.

Survivors include her son, Gary Briscoe and wife Diane of Dripping Springs; daughter, Shelia Mathis and husband Jim of Eagle Lake; son Wayne ‘Tiger’ Briscoe and wife Janet of Bernardo; daughter Silvia Brune and the late James ‘Bobo’ Brune of Columbus; brother Otto Klimple, Jr and wife Willene of College Station; and brother-in-law Ray Edwards of Houston.

She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Tracy Briscoe Davis; Brian and Scott Briscoe; Brent and Brandon Mathis; Cody and Cory Brune; Amanda and Brandon Briscoe; and eight great-grandchildren: Kyler, Judah and River Davis; Henry and Caroline Briscoe; Karlee and Colby Mathis; and Hudsyn Brune. They were all her pride and joy.

Children of Elvin “Johnny” Brom; son Tony Brom and wife Tina of La Grange; daughter Roxanna Brom and Andrew Goldberg of Houston; son, Clayton Brom of Puerta Villarta, Mexico; and daughter Camilla Brom of Santa Fe, NM.

In addition to her love for her family, she treasured attending church and church activities as she grew in her faith. She delighted in her beautiful garden flowers and traveling through many states. She spent many wonderful days fishing at the coast with family and attending local dances and dance groups with friends. The fellowship she shared with her Canasta groups through the years was especially dear to her heart. Ernestine was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who was a blessing to all that knew her. She will be dearly missed by all her family, numerous relatives, and many friends.

Pallbearers are Brian Briscoe, Scott Briscoe, Brent Mathis, Brandon Mathis, Cody Brune, Cory Brune, and Brandon Briscoe. Honorary pallbearers are Otto Klimple, Jr. and Ray Edwards.

Visitation was Wednesday, Oct. 13 at the First Baptist Church of Eagle Lake from 10 a.m. – 11a.m. A celebration of life service will follow, officiated by Tony Brom.

Interment will follow at Cheetham Cemetery in Sheridan.
