Richard “Rickey” James Girndt, 65, of Columbus, passed away Dec. 18 in Houston.

He was born Oct. 30, 1956 in Hialeah, Fl, and was adopted by Forrest Girndt and Dolores (Hooper) Girndt.

Rickey designed and built OCTG equipment for many years and had eight patents. He spent time in the Air Force.

Rickey enjoyed listening to music, visiting with friends, shooting his guns, and spending time at the farm.

His wife Cathy McCullum; stepson Deke and wife Steph Easton, and several cousins, nieces and nephews in and around the Columbus area survive Rickey.

He was preceded in death by his parents Forrest Girndt and Dolores Girndt and stepson Cody McCallum.

Memorial service will be Thursday, Dec. 30 2 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with Deacon John Glueck officiating.

Rickey had a very kind heart and loved animals.
