Paul Lee Hattermann, of Weimar, passed away Apr. 20 in Houston at the age of 69. He was born to Paul Adolph and Melba Jean (Walker) Hattermann on Nov. 7, 1952 in Texas City.

In October 1981 a mutual friend introduced him to this future wife, Margaret Lynn Duce. Three months later they were married Jan. 22, 1982.

Paul attended Columbus High School, graduating in 1971. He served in the Army from 1972 to 1976 in Germany and Turkey. He graduated from Stephen F Austin University with a Degree in Communications and Business. He began his career with Schwans Food Service in 1982, became a Sales Manager for the Alvin, Texas location in 1984. In 1989 he was transferred to Florida where he was Sales Manager for multiple locations in Florida and Georgia. After returning to Texas he was a resident of Katy for over 20 years.

He was active in Boy Scout of America as a Youth Counselor and Scout Master for Troop 73 (Katy) for over 10 years. Wildlife Conservation was important to him and he was a member of the Harvey Creek Wildlife Association. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, attending youth events (Karate, Cheerleading, Football and Basketball) for the grandchildren. He even enjoyed time spent taking grandchildren to school, doctor / dentist appointments and job interviews. His hobbies included travel, hunting, bird watching, listening to music and keeping up with friends and family via Facebook. He will be most remembered for his smile, hugs and stories he loved to share.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Melba Hattermann.

Paul is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Lynn Hatterman, of Columbus; daughters, Stacey Guillory of Houston, and Terri Mc-Dowell and husband, Phil, Sr. of Chesapeake, VA; sons, Keith Hattermann and wife Tiffany of Katy, and Jason Hattermann and wife Lana of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Niki Duchense, Ashlee Hattermann, Chase Hattermann, Hannah Hattermann, Trenton Williams, Ciera Milton, Phillip McDowell, Jr., Ashlynne Rawlinson, Luke Prosise and Ben Prosise; five great-grandchildren; brother, Jarrell Hattermann of Brenham.

A funeral service was Monday, Apr. 25 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with Glen Hanson and Pastor Ken Durham officiating. Burial followed in Ijams Cemetery. A visitation was Sunday, Apr. 24, at Henneke Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers were Jason Hattermann, Keith Hattermann, Chase Hattermann, Terry Underwood, Chris Plummer, Terry Underwood, Mark Wilburn and Barry Brunson.
