Helen Joyce Holub, age 91, passed away Feb. 19 in Columbus. She was born to Alfred and Irene (Pavlu) Meyer Jan. 27, 1929 in Columbus.

After graduating from high school, Helen married Leon D. Holub June 15, 1946. She was a homemaker, dedicated to caring for her husband and children. Her hobbies included spending time with her family, playing old fashioned card solitaire and doing word search puzzles. She enjoyed watching ‘Days of our Lives’ since its beginning in 1965 and spoiling her kitty cats and puppy dogs. She was a member of Catholic Daughters for 62 years. She also enjoyed going places with her daughter and grandkids, whether it was out to eat or taking a trip somewhere. On one occasion they went to Mena, Arkansas to follow the Boy Scouts.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Irene Meyer, husband, Leon D. Holub and brother, Alfred Meyer.

Helen is survived by her children, Glenn Holub and wife Nina of Columbus; Kim Kovar of Alleyton and Brenda Holub of Yoakum; grandchildren, Daniel Espitia, Cheryl Hinton and husband Erik, Mason Kovar and wife Ashley, Nathan Holub, Christine Rau and husband Jamie, Cassondra Olsen and husband Joseph, David Kovar, Jessiecca Holub and Cheyenne Burns; and great-grandchildren, Tristan Espitia, Graysen Hinton, Hennessy Hinton, Beretta Olsen, Colt Olsen, Janson Rau, Jennings Rau and Lainey Kovar.

Funeral service was Monday, Feb. 24 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, with Fr. Augustine Asante officiating. Burial followed at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Feb. 23 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, and at church on Monday prior to the funeral. A Parish Prayer Service and Catholic Daughters Rosary was Sunday at Henneke Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers were Mason Kovar, David Kovar, Joseph Olsen, Erik Hinton, Jamie Rau and Tristan Espitia.
