Maisie Olive Hopkins, 94, currently of Alvin (formerly of Columbus) passed away at home Dec. 23 in Alvin.

She was born on Dec. 18, 1927 in Plaistow, England.

She was a mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother but her greatest purpose was being a Prayer Warrior. She loved Jesus and served him faithfully praying along with other prayer partners over their families. She loved reading the Christian suspense novels, jigsaw puzzles (the bigger, the better), Word Find puzzles and coloring the pages in her Adult coloring book that her great-grandsons gave her. She is well known for her homemade pralines and date nut cake.

Maisie was currently a member of Believer’s Fellowship in Alvin. Her former home church was Rock Island Full Gospel Church in Rock Island.

She is survived by her son, James Hopkins of Dickinson; daughters, Pam White and husband, Ron of Spring; Paula Pineda and husband, Joe of Caldwell; Patricia Mathis and husband, Roger of Bastrop; Connie Stagner and husband, Billy of Friendswood; and Donna Hopkins of Alvin; niece, Claire Nagel of Nevada; eight grandchildren, Michelle Capello and husband, Dan; Raymond Hopkins and wife, Melissa; Kimberly Mathis and Shea; Stefanie Spradlin and husband, Scott; Scott White and wife, Bethany; Brian Hopkins and wife, Michele; Dorothy Mathis and Cassandra Pineda; and nine great-grandchildren, Shelby MacKellar, Connor Capello, Abigail Capello, Noah Hopkins, Vivienne Hopkins, Malachi Hopkins, Levi Hopkins and Hunter Spradlin and Callie Spradlin.

Maisie was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Elmer Hopkins and son, Raymond Edwin Hopkins. Visitation was Dec. 28 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Funeral services followed at 10 a.m..

Burial took place following the service in Myrtle Cemetery in Rock Island.

Pallbearers were family members and friends.
