Larry Allen Dolch, age 79, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022. He was born January 14, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas, to Allen B. Dolch and Beverly Jean (Vaughn) Dolch, being the first of four children.

Larry married his high school sweetheart, Betty Stephens, at the young age of 18. Their marriage lasted over 50 years with love, laughter, and hard times, proving that love conquers all. Larry and Betty raised two beautiful daughters, Sheila Dolch Avaria, and Cathy Lynne Boggs.

Larry started his training at the Houston firefighter academy in his early 20’s. With his strong will and determination he was able to graduate top of his class and excel to later become the captain. He developed into a man who possessed a strong work ethic with a sharp and intelligent mind, along with a wit that never failed to make the people around him laugh. He held great responsibility and a deep love for family and friends. These went on to form the man that touched all of our lives in the best of ways. Later, Larry started working at Carter’s Country in his 30’s, little did he know that he started a life-long passion for firearms that he would share with family and friends.

Most of us didn’t know his entire life, but we heard his stories of being a firefighter and how he would out smart any man/women that challenged him. His hobbies included, photography, building guns, Nascar, and so much more. In 1999, Larry and Betty retired to Columbus, Texas, where they would spend the rest of their lives challenging each other and building a new life that would live on through his daughter and grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Allen B. and Beverly Dolch; wife Betty Dolch; daughter Sheila Dolch Avaria; and grandson Alexander Avaria.

Larry is survived by his daughter Cathy Boggs; two granddaughters, Lauren and Taylor Boggs; wife Kim Nguyen; sister and brother-in-law, Janis and John Parlette; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Mary Dolch, brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Nancy Dolch. He also has many other family and friends, too numerous to mention. All of these he loved and touched deeply.

Visitation was Saturday, July 30, 2022, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas. A Graveside Service was held on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.
