LAYTON

Robert G. Layton, 80, of Sheridan, passed away July 5 in Sheridan.

He was born Sept. 12, 1941 to Louie Layton and Evelyn (Willeford) Layton in Sublime. On Sept. 6, 1963, he married Betty Brisco.

Robert worked as a welder for many years. He spent time in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962.

He was a member of Rock Island Full Gospel Church.

Robert enjoyed Louis L’Amour westerns, mowing his grass, woodworking and bluegrass music.

Robert is survived by his daughters Sharon Marshall and husband Chris of Smith Island, MD and Susan Layton of Sheridan; son Robert Layton and wife Michelle of Hallettsville; sisters Donna Linnemier and husband Joe and Cheryl Brisco; grandchildren Shelli Laake, Bryan Layton, Thomas Layton, Michael Beyette, Reagan Marshall and Constance Marshall; great-grandchildren Kendall Layton-Hilt, Robert Nolan Laake, Calli Renee Laake, Jase Ryan Laake, Kaydence Jane Laake, Patricia Beyette and James Beyette; great great-granddaughter Ainsley Faith Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louie Layton and Evelyn Willeford Layton; wife Betty Layton; brothers Farrell Layton and Weyland Layton (Royce); sisters Evelyn Brisco, Ina Kortz, Lois Crawford and Billie Dean Thomas.

Visitation was Thursday, July 7 at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

Funeral service was Fri day, July 8 at Rock Island Full Gospel Church in Rock Island. Calvin Harris officiated the service. Visitation was at the church prior to the funeral

Pallbearers were Bryan Layton, Thomas Layton, Robert Nolan Laake, Justice Silgero, Dequan Hall and Christopher Silgero. Honorary pallbearer was George Reilly.
