Leona Bertha Shimek Padgett was called home to heaven at the age of 86 years of age July 1, after passing away at Garden Villa Nursing Home in El Campo.

Leona was born in Fayetteville Feb. 15, 1936 to the late John Shimek and to the late Otillia (Wychopen) Shimek.

She was raised in Fayetteville and later in her adult life moved to Houston after meeting her late husband, Charles Padgett. She was a stay-at-home homemaker for many years. She loved to cook and travel all over the USA. Leona was an excellent cook, loved to crochet, and enjoyed planting flowers. She also loved her polka music and dancing at polka bazaars. Her sisters Lucy Weishuhn of Sealy; Tina Weishuhn of Fayetteville; and Lydia Simcek of Sealy survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; Lillie Krenek, Lou ise Dvorak, and Loretta Peschel; and brothers, Johnny Shimek, and Jerome Shimek.

Visitation was Saturday, July 9 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville, followed by the funeral services with Father Steve Sauser officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 207 E. Bell Street, Fayetteville, TX 78940.exas 77833
