The sun rose in Columbus for Nathaniel Muhammad Feb. 9, 1941 and set Dec. 9, 2019. Nathaniel was born Nathaniel Jones, Jr. to Nathaniel Jones, Sr. and Willie Mae Berry.

He attended and graduated from Carverdale High School in the Cypress Fairbanks Public School System May 29, 1959. He then enlisted in the United States Army First Battle Group, 13th Infantry in Fort Riley. After four years of service to his country, Nathaniel received an honorable discharge.

Nathaniel lived with his mother Willie Mae Berry in a God-fearing, Christian based home. At the young age of 24, Nathaniel became a faithful member of the Nation of Islam. He converted his time to the Islamic teachings and soon after had his name legally changed to Nathaniel Hiram Muhammad.

He devoted much of his time worshiping and praying at the Mosque in Third Ward of Houston. He later united in marriage to Casandra Ann Scott in January 2007. God blessed them with a son, Seth Muhammad.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Casandra Ann Muhammad; children, Lucien Darrell Wilson, Nathaniel Jones, III, Valerie Jones Savage, Tara Kai Jones and Seth Muhammad; 25 grandkids, 26 great grandkids, nieces and nephews and family and friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Visitation will be Saturday from 1-2 p.m.
