William Lee Neuendorff, 84, of Bernardo, passed away Dec. 11 at his home in Bernardo.

William was born Jan. 14, 1937 to Jesse and Luella (Ritter) Neuendorff in Sealy, the fourth of five children. He grew up in Bernardo where he attended Bernardo School and later spent the majority of his life out on his family’s original homestead.

He married his love, Mary Kainer, June 22, 1958. William and Mary raised five children: Randy, Kathy, Ruth, Ricky, and Roxanne. William spent 42 years as a bulldozer and maintainer operator for various gravel pits in and around Colorado County.

William loved raising cattle and chickens, working his farm, and tending to his bountiful garden and citrus trees. He loved to fish, hunt, and play cards and dominoes. A giving man, he was a member of the Bernardo Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years. He also had a deep love for his dogs who followed him all over his farm.

Above all, he carried with him a tremendous love for his wife of 63 years, Mary.

William is survived by his wife, Mary; children Randy Neuendorff and his wife Sandy of Columbus, Ruth Johnson and her husband Wayne of San Antonio, Ricky Neuendorff of Sealy, and Roxanne Neuendorff of Blanco, and son-in-law Larry Burris of Columbus; Grandchildren Tiffany (Donald) Kunschick, Travis Neuendorff, Traci Neuendorff, Terri Neuendorff, Amber (Mark) Becerra, Kyle (Kimberly) Burris, Adrienne (Zach) Anderson, Andrew (Celeste) Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Christopher (Chelsea) Neuendorff, Natalie (Johnie) George, Emily (JD) Corner, Jesse Neuendorff, Alexandria Uballe, Korey (Shea) Mangold, Aaron (Emily) Uballe, along with 21 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Luella Neuendorff, daughter Kathy Burris, sisters Nita Ripper, Jerlene Jones, Idell Buxkamper, and infant brother Clarence Neuendorff.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 15, from 5-7 p.m. at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, Dec.16 at 10 a.m. at St. Roch Catholic Church in Mentz with Fr. Bob Knippenberg officiating. Visitation at church will be from 9-10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Roch Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Kyle Burris, Travis Neuendorff, Andrew Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Chris Neuendorff, Jesse Neuendorff, and Aaron Uballe.
