Sherry Lynn Simmons Plourde entered this world in Columbus on June 4, 1947. She passed peacefully from it on the evening of Mar. 6 in the presence of loved ones. Sherry spent the majority of her career in management in various industries. She retired from Melancon Energy where she considered her coworkers as family.

While on this earth, some of her favorite pastimes were fishing, walking along the beach, decorating, crocheting, and spending time with her “babies,” her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters Melissa Perry and Melanie Ballard, and son-in-law, Brent Ballard; her grandchildren Darryl Perry and wife Sarah, Brittany Richardson and husband Barry, Taelor LaVenia and Brett Ballard; her great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Preston, Daniel, Dominic, Madison, Saniya, Brixton, and Serena; her siblings Wanda Stokes, Deborah Thoede, and John A. Simmons, Jr., and lots of other family members.

Sherry joins her parents John and Delores Simmons, and her sister Marsha Pastuch, in God’s presence in His eternal kingdom. She is at peace now. The family has entrusted Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with her arrangements.

A graveside service was Wednesday, Mar. 9. A celebration of her life followed at the Schuette/Simmons family home. Sherry was laid to rest beside her sister, Marsha, as she wished in Brune Cemetery, FM 1890, Columbus, TX 78934.

“...when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart. For every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.”
