May 26, 1932 to July 21, 2022

Our beloved Ruby Lois, affectionately known as GG (Great Grandmother), passed away from this life on July 21, 2022. Born May 26, 1932, in New Ulm, Texas, to Urban and Meta Herm Drymalla, she grew up on a farm and picked a lot of cotton. Her family later moved to Columbus, Texas, where she graduated from Columbus High School in 1950.

Ruby married Charles “Charlie” Lambert on July 30, 1952. They shared 65 years together. She was a very loving mother who raised two boys, Kenneth and Gary, while her husband, Charlie, worked as a roughneck and driller in the oil fields of Texas and Louisiana. Despite moving as many as four times in one year, Ruby was determined to get her boys a good education. She learned to drive a truck so she could pull the mobile home on short notice. The next day, she would enroll her children in their new school.

Raised Catholic, when Ruby married Charlie, they had to agree to raise the children Catholic. So, she took her sons to Mass on Sunday mornings and the Baptist Church on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. Because of her efforts, her sons and their families from children to great grandchildren, have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Ruby also put plenty of miles on her Mercury Monterrey along the Louisiana bayous driving many families and their children to the Baptist Mission in Montegut Louisiana - Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday nights. She loved her Lord and Savior!

Ruby made friends easily and kept them for life. She was a prayer warrior and faithful to check on the sick and shut-in. An avid gardener, she loved to share flowers or plants with friends and family. She looked for the good in everyone she met. Always faithful to the church, one of her last tasks was to ensure her tithe was mailed.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and beloved sister, Glorine Venghaus. She is survived by her two sons and their wives, five grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. She paved the way to Heaven for all of us.

“Our beloved GG, you will be greatly missed by all of us!”

Funeral Service was at Houston Northwest Church, 1991 State Highway 249, Houston, Texas, 77070, Pastor Steven Wright officiating. Private family burial was in Columbus, Texas, at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Claire Brothers Funeral Home conducted all ceremonies.
