Trent Allan Kohleffel was born Feb. 20, 2006 to Paul and Jacqueline Kohleffel in Kingwood. Trent and his family moved to Columbus in 2011.

Trent was a St. Anthony Catholic Church member, where he was active in Catechism and the youth group. At the age of five, Trent began playing youth football, basketball, baseball, and swam on the swim team. Nothing made him happier than competing in sports with his friends. As a freshman at Columbus High School, he was a straight-A student and a football, swim, powerlifting, and baseball team member. Trent was also a member of the student council.

Anytime he wasn’t playing sports, he could be found outdoors, where he loved to hunt, fish, and camp in the woods by his house with his brothers and cousins. He even found time for a job that he loved. Trent enjoyed accompanying his grandmother to church on Sunday mornings and working cattle with his grandfather. Every summer, he would travel to West Virginia, where he would spend time with his (maternal) grandparents, kayaking the Cacapon river, fishing, and hiking.

Trent had a special bond with his brothers Trey and Wes, and he could always be found playing with them and helping them in any way that he could. He played, worked, and prayed with them. Trent was intelligent, funny, kind-hearted, thoughtful, and sensitive to the needs of others. This is why he touched the hearts of those around him.

Trent was called home to God on May 9 at the age of 15. Trent is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Jack Kohleffel, and his maternal grandmother Linda Schlueter.

Trent is survived by his parents Paul and Jacqueline Kohleffel; brothers Trey and Wes Kohleffel; paternal grandmother Roxanne Kohleffel; maternal grandfather Jeffrey Schlueter; aunts and uncles Michael and Lorene Kohleffel, Bryan and Monica Jones, John and Jennifer Kohleffel, Crispin and Angela Delle, and Kristina Schlueter, and cousins Ashley Jones, Hunter, Clay, Jacob, Luke, and Olivia Kohleffel, Crispin, and Teddy Delle.

Visitation was at Henneke Funeral Home Friday, May 14. A celebration of life was at St. Anthony Catholic Church Saturday, May 15, and burial followed at Miller Creek Cemetery, County Road 214 in Weimar.

Pallbearers were: Texas Ranger Jim Hatfield, Texas Ranger Eric Lopez, Texas Ranger David Chauvin, Texas Highway Patrol Sergeant Tom Lambert, Texas Highway Patrol Sergeant Brian Ihnen, Texas Highway Patrolman Shawn Anderson.
