Jonathan Edward Turner died suddenly and unexpectedly Nov. 26, 2019, at the young age of 40. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Turner and their son, Owen Turner, as well as his father, Kenneth, mother, Nell, and six siblings, Law, David, Michelle, Josh, Sarah, and Matt.

John was born in Houston. At the age of 9, New Ulm became the setting of John’s myriad childhood adventures and experiences with his six incredible siblings and beloved friends from his community. His avid love of basketball, hunting, and fishing were a defining part of his teenage years and brought him joy throughout his life. John’s love of learning shown as he excelled in academics and basketball at Columbus High School.

He attended and received his nursing degree at University of Texas Galveston. He worked as an ICU nurse at Methodist Clearlake Hospital.

John married Michelle Binford on Aug. 12, 2010. He cherished his life as a husband to Chelle and a father to Owen, and enjoyed sharing his love of kayaking, fishing, animals, and the outdoors with them. His unfailing empathy and sensitivity to the needs of friends and family made him a cherished companion. John was profoundly selfless and generous with everything and everyone. He went above and beyond, always willing to serve everyone around him. John will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, honorable son, loyal brother and a dear friend.

At John’s request, his remains were spread at sea in a family ceremony.
