Nancy Thurmond West was born in Columbus Jan. 5, 1951 to the late Thurmond and May West. She died Sept. 10 in Lakewood, CO.

Nancy taught school in San Antonio and Dallas, Texas and at the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. She wished to be remembered as a person who cared for children. Nancy is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bruce Bain of Lufkin; three nephews and a niece and their spouses, Michael and Lesley Bain of Pasadena, CA, Darryl and Kim Bain of Highland Village, Joel and Taylor Bain of Beijing, China, and Suzanne and Derek Powers of Nacogdoches. She is also survived by seven great nieces and one great nephew.

There will be a graveside service at a later date under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home.
