Dwain White, age 85, of Weimar, passed away Aug. 17.

He was born Nov. 29, 1933 in Quanah. He had three brothers and four sisters.

After leaving home at a young age, Dwain started his career as a Ferrier/Blacksmith. He continued working as a ferrier until he was 70 years old.

He loved race horses and game chickens and always had both. Through his life he won many awards with his horses and his game chickens.

Dwain was a loving husband, father, step father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a kind hearted soft spoken man who never met a stranger. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Zanonia White, stepchildren Kathy Newman Holley and J. D. Newman, Jr. and wife Andrea, his children Virgil White, and Carla Moody White, his two sisters, along with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and one son.

Family will receive friends to celebrate Dwain’s life Saturday Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Dwain’s honor to one of the two organizations listed below or the organization of your choice:

— Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011;

— United Game Fowl Breeders Association, P.O. Box 3431, Sonora, CA 95370.
