The Cardinal golf teams traveled to Victoria Wednesday, Mar. 31 for the District 28 -3A tournament.
The medalist scores for the girls were: Summer Adams-130, Kambrie Toppel-121, and Emma Garcia-102.
The Lady Cards shot a total of 404 led by Jordyn Templeton -96, Audrey Thomson-100, Brooke Ellis-104, Brie Orange 104, and Erika Schobel- 109. The 404 total points gave them a first-place finish by 44 shots over second-place Industrial. This was their third straight district championship.
The boys White team was paced by Blaine Ellis -99, Tyler Pawlik- 108, Jackson Jones- 110, Rylan Curlee- 120, and Clay Kohleffel- 126.
The Cardinal Red team didn’t have their best day of the season. The guys pulled out the district championship by one shot over a solid Hallettsville team. Kaldon Roensch shot 102, Trace Braden-100, Hayden Heffley-97, Carson Wray-79, and Ty Thomas 78 for a total of 354. Carson Wray was second-place individual, and Ty Thomas was the district champion individual. The boys also garnered their third straight district championship.
The Lady Cards will travel to Kerrville Apr. 19-20 for the Regional tournament. The boys Red team will play at Scott Schreiner Golf Club in Kerrville Apr. 21-22.
“ I couldn’t be prouder of the effort all our players have made this season. Fighting through COVID, frozen golf courses, and other activities, these kids really stepped it up at district. I’m sure they will continue to work on improving their skills, and their best will come out at the Regional tournament,” coach Andy Jacobs said.
