On Friday the Weimar Ladycats completed round one of district with a perfect 6-0 record after beating Shiner 7-1 and Louise 15-0.
The team traveled to Shiner Tuesday for a high-stakes district game. Paige Pavlu had a single on an 0-2 count, she later scored on Harper Price’s infield single. Harper then stole second and third bases, and scored on Malarie Mican’s infield single for a 3-1 lead.
That is when Reagan Wick took over on the mound with some great defense plays by Malarie at shortstop. Hannah had her second home run of the night in the fifth inning with a right center line drive. In the seventh inning the Ladycats loaded the bases with singles by Skylar, Emily, and Hannah walked, then on a 1-2 count with two outs Paige came up with a big hit bringing in two more for a 7-1 win. The Ladycats out hit Shiner 14-5 led by Malarie and Hannah with three each, Skylar and Paige had two while Reagan, Emily, Jalyn, and Harper had one each. On the mound Reagan struck out 10 while only giving up the one run.
On Friday they took on Louise to finish round one. They were able to put up three in the first inning with hits by Reagan, Emily and Camille, along with three walks Weimar was up 3-0. In the second Kerin Cernoch had a solo home run then Skylar had a single followed by three doubles in a row by Reagan, Emily and Paige and the Ladycats were up 7-0. In the third, they had three walks to load the bases and Skylar cleared them with a triple to right center. Reagan brought her in, and Weimar loaded the bases again with back-to-back walks and Camille cleared them with a triple and a 15-0 win. Reagan led the way with 3 hits while Skylar, Emily, and Camille had 2 each Kerin and Paige both had 1 each. On the mound Paige struck out 5 of 9 outs while giving up just one hit.
